Fine Art Prints by Morten E. Solberg About The Artist - Master artist Morten E. Solberg has spent a lifetime developing the unique style of painting that he is know for, yet he is probably the most versatile artist in print today. He paints in Oil, Acrylic and Watercolor and his techniques range from photo-realism to total abstraction, with the combination of both being very popular images. There was never a time Mort can remember wanting to be anything other than an artist. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Art and after years of pursuing his craft via design studios and commercial art Mort moved to the West. He soon shed his commercial ties to concentrate on fine art and has been painting full time since 1971. His many interests are varied and are often reflected in his art. American Indian history and culture hold a special allure for Mort, perhaps because he has a Mohawk Chief’s daughter, Norwegian whalers and explorers among his great grandparents.. While living in Southern California’s Orange County, he firmly established himself in the art world with memberships in the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Society of Animal Artists, Wildlife Artist of the World and Knickerbocker Artists. Numerous awards and inclusions in prestigious collections followed. His work is represented in many private and public collections including the Smithsonian Institution, National Gallery of Art, National Academy of Design, The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum of Art, The Dunnegan Museum of Art and the National World Museum of Environmental Art. He has been featured in Southwest Art, American Artisit Magazine, Wildlife Art News, Art West, Watercolor, Sports Afield, Sporting Classic and Orange County Illustrated. Mort was awarded Artist of the Year in 1986 by American Artist. His accomplishments have earned him listings in Who’s Who in American Art and Who’s Who in the West. Mort was elected to U. S. Art Magazine “Artist Hall of Fame” in 1993.
